Hansford County-The Hansford County Circle of Friends will host a “Night at the Races” on Saturday, April 12, 2014. Hansford County Circle of Friends to Host a Night at the Races April 12 The team will be working diligently over the next two weeks in preparation to defend their district title on April 17. Jon Crowl and Rayel Anderson also competed for Hansford County. Jaci Burgin was recognized for 5th in reasons and 8th in cattle. Maggie Pipkin had a very solid day placing 20th overall. She also placed 2nd in cattle and 6th in reasons. Kate Stedje led the way with a 10th place overall finish. The team racked up awards for 3rd in cattle, 5th in swine, and 6th in reasons before finishing 5th overall out of the 29 teams competing. Next they traveled to Warner, Oklahoma and competed at the Connors Invitational April 3. Kate Stedje was 2nd in reasons and 6th in sheep. Maggie Pipkin placed 6th overall, with a 6th in cattle and a 7th in swine. He earned a 3rd in cattle, 5th in swine, and 7th in reasons. She ranked 1st in swine, 3rd in sheep, and 5th in reasons. He was 1st in both reasons and cattle, 2nd in swine, and 8th in sheep. Travis Stedje won High Individual Overall. All six team members were recognized for awards. The Senior team started the new season with a bang by pulling off the sweep and winning all four divisions to go along with the High Team Overall award. Other members of the team are Leo Harper, Hagen Puentes, Carter Burgin, Cassie Briones, Saxie Ralston, Jeff Weaver, Reed Anderson, Laney Harper, Dylaney Weaver, Sam Gumfory, and Gage Gumfory. Within species, Reese Shields placed 7th in sheep and Max Harper ranked 7th in swine. Maggie Davis contributed with a 28th overall finish. Individually, they were led by Tyler Stedje who placed 22nd overall. Hansford ranked 5th in swine and 10th in sheep in the team standings. In the Junior division, fifteen youth represented the county. Twenty-one Hansford County students competed in the two divisions. The first one was held March 29 at Clarendon College. The Hansford County 4-H livestock judging team competed at two competitions recently.
